Sketch Sprint Firmware Updates Bring New Features and Usability Improvements

We’re excited to share the latest firmware update for the MakerBot Sprint. Firmware 1.3.0 is packed with improvements to the user interface, connectivity, material compatibility, and expanded language support. This release is focused on refining the user experience and ensuring better integration with UltiMaker’s Digital Factory platform.

Expanded language support

To better serve our global users, we’ve added translations for Dutch, German, Italian, Polish and Arabic.

Improved camera integration with Digital Factory

Camera support within Digital Factory has been expanded to make remote monitoring more effective. The live camera feed is now accessible anytime the printer is connected to Digital Factory—not just during an active print.

New material support: Metallic PLA

This release supports a new material type, Metallic, in alignment with Cura 5.10’s new material profile. Users printing with our Metallic PLA series will notice enhanced visual quality and improved print success rates.

Connectivity and usability improvements

We’ve resolved a server configuration bug that previously affected some Digital Factory features. In addition, the printer’s user interface has received several updates aimed at improving clarity and ease of use, such as better navigation and improved text notifications to make it easier to understand alerts and stay connected throughout the printing process. The interface now displays time remaining during a print, replacing the previously shown elapsed time—giving users a clearer picture of their print progress.

Since the launch of firmware version 1.1.5, we have been continuing to update and improve Sprint’s usability to ensure better performance and stability.

We’ll have more speed and quality improvements in the next version of Cura.
