An Update on MakerBot Nebula – Shutting down June 30th

May 18, 2026

Over the past year, we introduced something new to the MakerBot education community: MakerBot Nebula — an experimental platform designed to explore how AI, differentiated learning, and 3D printing could come together to better support educators and students.

Today, we’re sharing that MakerBot Nebula will officially sunset and access will not be possible starting June 30th.

Looking Back: The MakerBot Gives Back Initiative

We wanted to take a moment and look back at one of the biggest milestones within Nebula was the launch of the MakerBot Gives Back initiative — a program created to help expand access to hands-on STEM learning through classroom 3D printing.

Through this initiative:

  • Over 700 educators applied for classroom funding support
  • MakerBot awarded more than 25 grants
  • Each grant package was valued at over $4,000
  • More than $100,000 in 3D printing technology and resources was distributed to K–12 classrooms across the United States

These grants provided educators with full MakerBot Sketch Sprint 3D printing bundles, helping students gain access to creative problem-solving, design thinking, and hands-on STEM learning opportunities.

We were incredibly inspired by the stories educators shared about their classrooms, students, and goals for integrating 3D printing into learning.

You can read more about the MakerBot Gives Back recipients here.

Please note: We have reached out to all grant recipients for this funding cycle. If another funding cycle opens we will contact everyone who had applied previously.

What’s Next

Although MakerBot Nebula is winding down, our commitment to supporting educators has not changed.

Educators can still access many of our 3D printing resources, guides, and classroom materials through the MakerBot Resource Library: https://makerbot.com/r/resources

Additionally, educators who purchased Sketch or Sketch Sprint printers may still have access to select training resources through: https://further.makerbot.com

We’re grateful to everyone who explored Nebula, shared feedback, tested features, and helped shape the platform throughout its journey.

Thank you for being part of this chapter with us. 💜
