MakerWare 2.2.0 was released last week, and we hope you’ve had a chance to use it. It offers more improvements and upgrades than we could fit into our first post on MakerWare 2.2.0, so here are some more highlights. CLEANER SURFACE WALLS We’ve changed the way the extruder moves, resulting in smarter printing and a cleaner print exterior. Our previous version would create lines on surface walls and first layers, which is no longer an issue. Printed using MakerWare 2.2.0, Mr. Jaws is diagonal line free.NEW INFILL PATTERNS Cats aren’t the only new infill pattern in Makerware 2.2.0’s repertoire (although it may be the best). In addition to cat-filled prints, you can select any of the 4 infill patterns below in custom profiles. Is there an infill you’d like to see? Let us know in the comments! NEW SMOOTHING ALGORITHM We’ve developed a brand new smoothing algorithm in MakerWare 2.2.0. Objects with curved forms, like the gear bearing below, now print with a much sleeker surface finish. Be sure to download MakerWare 2.2.0 if you haven’t already, and send any feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org.
