MakerBot went transatlantic last week for the London and Paris 3D Printshows. We’re happy to report that we brought home a shiny new trophy and some unforgettable memories. 3D Printshow Global Awards We were proud to land the Global Award for Best Consumer Printer 2013, and to see our CEO Bre Pettis deliver the conference’s keynote address. Bre was also on hand at the MakerBot exhibit to greet attendees, who ranged from 3D printing veterans to newcomers in search of their first desktop 3D printer. The Showroom Floor The MakerBot-made Verlan Dress, by multidisciplinary designer Francis Bitonti, was a big hit with show-goers. Our friends and customers at Legacy Effects were also on the scene with life-sized 3D prints from blockbuster films they’ve helped bring to life, including “Ironman” and the fighting robots of “Real Steel”. Both the London and Paris 3D Printshows featured education days that gave local school children the opportunity to see the exhibitors. London Thingiverse Meetup After a hard day’s work, we had met up with London’s finest MakerBot® Thingiverse® users. We drew straws made of MakerBot® PLA Filament for prizes, sipped a few lagers, and got a look at London’s latest 3D printed creations. MakerBot at the Louvre After London, it was off to the Paris 3D Printshow, held underneath the Louvre Museum. While the Paris show was smaller, the more intimate venue kept the booth extremely busy on both days. Despite the language barrier, everybody seemed excited about the possibilities 3D printing has to offer. We’re looking forward to seeing friends both new and old at the February 2014 3D Printshow in our hometown of New York City.
