Peter Gend grew up on stories from Russian folklore and fairytales which became the source of inspiration for Peter’s MFA thesis. In order to bring the stories and his thesis to life, Peter purchased a MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer to make 3D prints of the characters. It gave him the low cost and high-resolution prints he needed – and the creative freedom to pull from his memory and imagination. “In the end I was able to produce all of my toys, and at much larger sizes than I had planned by making interlocking pieces and at a very fine resolution,” said Peter. UPDATE: Peter passed his thesis review, and is now putting his MFA to work teaching at the Art Institute of Los Angeles. And so Peter and his MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer lived happily ever after. Want to share your own MakerBot Replicator 2 story for a chance to win $250? Find out how here.
