“The reduction in time and skill needed to create objects increased the students’ learning cycles. they are able to jump right in again and design modifications or go on to new challenges.”

“The reduction in time and skill needed to create objects increased the students’ learning cycles. They are able to jump right in again and design modifications or go on to new challenges.”

Before they had 3D printers, [Falcon Robitic's] various robot parts had to be made from metal at a local machine shop or outsourced to a 3D printing service. The parts worked, but outsourcing the creation of their designs didn’t give students the level of hands-on experience, ownership, and feedback they needed. Once students were able to make parts in-house, they were shocked by how easily and quickly their MakerBot printers could deliver physical objects.

Adolfo Camarillo High School

""Students learn how to work, design, and collaborate with real skills. So when the students are done with my class, not only can they think creatively and critically. They learn collaboration and teamwork, how 3D printers and three-dimensional spaces work -- and most importantly how their ideas can be carried out.""

Peter Wachtel, Product Innovation & Design

Group 282

"All students can learn how to manufacture and develop a product and gain real-world experience, real 3D printing, a real understanding of the product development process, and connect with companies that make the products that they're working on. Now with 3D printing, especially with MakerBot, if you can think it, you can design and build it. It combines science, technology, engineering, math as well as real-world skills and mimics work-based learning." In 4 years Wachtel and his students have made over 100 custom products and raised over $20,000 to help support their program.

"Having the flexibility to print with common materials such as PLA all the way to advanced materials such as carbon fiber will allow all students’ ideas, no matter how complex, to come to life as tangible objects. When the CloudPrint platform is paired with the METHOD X, the opportunities for students and instructors are virtually limitless."

Jon Benskin, Teacher at Boca Raton Community High School

Enabling teamwork on projects while still being able to integrate different technologies into the lessons have been a great benefit to Jon Benskin's students. In today’s “new normal,” cloud applications that encourage collaboration like MakerBot CloudPrint are essential to classrooms and schools.

MakerBot has Boca Raton Community High School overcome challenges by creating a platform that has allowed students to work together, save time and streamline the printing process. Cloud-based programs, like MakerBot CloudPrint, give all students in any instructional setting a chance to learn, feel included, and simultaneously streamline instruction for educators.
