MakerBot Dynamo Instructions

Welcome to the instructions for building your MakerBot Dynamo! This set of instructions will take approximately 20 minutes, and you will need all the printed parts from the Botmobile Thingiverse item (link) as well as those in the purchased kit. You can definitely start printing before the kit arrives.

1.Spur Gear

Press spur gear onto motor.

2. Motor

Install motor into handle.

3. LED Holder

Slide light holder next to motor – to tighten the fit use a small piece of masking tape on the insert.

4. Gear

Bolt the first gear using the supplied allen wrench and one of the M3 bolts. Test the gear using your finger – it should spin freely on the bolt before you place it on the handle. All the gears are the same, so don’t worry about which one you pick up!

5. Other Gears

Attach the next gear onto the lever using a bolt and the allen wrench. As in the previous step, make sure it rotates freely on the bolt before you place it on the handle.

6. Knob

Install knob onto the last gear using the last M3 bolt.

7. Knob to Handle

Place the knob and gear into the last position of the handle using the M3 bolt.

8. LED placement

Slide led legs through the holder. Press each leg into one terminal of the motor. A small set of pliers can be helpful.

9. Try it out!

Turn the crank and watch it glow!
