New EXPERIMENTAL 1mm and 1.5mm Nozzles up on the store!

They're not gonna catch us. We're on a mission from MakerBot.

Howdy intrepid MakerBot Operators! Today we have released the newest additions to our line of experimental nozzles, the 1.0 mm and 1.5 mm MK7 big bore nozzles. Carefully machined in house by our own Charles Pax, these nozzles are custom made and doubly awesome. These nozzles will have you printing at the round cutting edge of MakerBot extrusion. Maybe it’s just me, but when I see this photo I can’t help but think of John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd tearing down the highway on their way to Chicago.

This nozzle is designed for MK7 users, so those with a Plastruder MK5 and Stepstruder MK6 will unfortunately have to sit this one out.

Make sure to adjust your Print-O-Matic settings accordingly. Limited supply so get them while you can!

No more guaranteed Thing-O-Matic shipping for Xmas…and only 10 more assembled bots. Updated with price drop!

Due to an overwhelming response, I’m sad to report we have accepted as many orders as we can for Thing-O-Matics for Christmas arrival. You can still order them, but you won’t be able to put a big box under the tree. We suggest giving your MakerBot-craving loved ones a card on the 25th that says “You’re getting a MakerBot delivered in a few days.”

Our shipping crew has been working long hours sending out the high volume of orders we’ve taken in this holiday season, and today’s day-long outage at our colocation facility has not made their job any easier.  We’ve used the time to double-check our numbers and we’ve had to make the call — no more guarantees about December 24th delivery.   We are waiting on several parts shipments, we simply cannot guarantee delivery before Christmas.

Order placed prior to December 6th should still ship for Christmas arrival.

Additionally, we will be accepting orders for only more 10 fully-assembled Thing-O-Matics this year, so our bot-building team can catch up with previously-filed orders.  These fully-assembled units have a 4-5 week lead time and will be shipping in January 2012.

We still have Thing-O-Matics to sell, and these will be available for order as soon as we get our servers moved to the cloud. While we can’t guarantee that the box will be under the tree on December 25th, you should have your kit orders soon thereafter.

Finally, we’d like to take the time to say thank you to all of our amazing customers.  This year has been an intense, exciting journey, and you, our customers, have made it possible.  We really wish we could give all of you everything you want instantly.  Thanks for your patience as we go through these growing pains.

Update: Since we’re not going to be able to get these under the tree, we’re dropping the price for Thing-O-Matic kits by another $100 for those of you who are ordering now.  This is a thank-you to those of you who will have to wait a bit longer for their MakerBots!

The MakerBot Store is was Down!

Sad Cash Register

Update: 7:30PM EST – SiteGenie is back up and we’ve transferred the images over. The store should be working for everyone, now. If you’re still not seeing it, please be patient while the DNS change propagates to you and your ISP.

Update: 6:15PM EST – We’ve re-instated the store from backup on another ISP. We’re currently missing some product images, but otherwise things should be working. It may take some time for DNS to propagate and point you at the correct site, so you still may not be able to access the site for a while. We’ll get those pictures back in place once SiteGenie is back up.

Update: 6:00PM EST – A new update from SiteGenie – their upstream provider is working on a fix. May have things working in an hour or so, but no promises, yet.

Update: 3:13PM EST – The latest update from SiteGenie indicates that there’s an upstream problem between their provider and Chicago. Maybe somebody ran a backhoe over some fiber optic cables? :(

As some intrepid shoppers may have noticed, the MakerBot Store has been down since this morning.

Our hosting provider, SiteGenie, tells us that they are having major upstream connectivity issues and are working to resolve them as quickly as possible.

Thingiverse and the MakerBot blog are still up and running strong, thanks to the power of cloud computing!

We’ll post updates here as this situation unfolds. We hope to get the store back up as soon as possible.

MakerBot Grab Bag Part 2: More Parts!

We’re cleaning out our inventory at the Botcave! Last week we put up a grab bag of extra parts in our store and everyone loves it – so we made another one with a whole new set of items in it. You can pick up some pulleys, M8 bolts, timing belts, all at a fraction of their cost for your own projects. The best part is we’re selling each bag for only $9.99! Most of these parts are from the cupcake – so this is a chance to stock up on some extra parts for veteran MakerBot operators, but it’s really just a great deal that makes sense. My favorite things in this kit that I know are a great deal are the smooth steel rods used in the cupcake. If I tried to buy these separately I’d probably spend over thirty dollars just for the rods.

In the spirit of crazy grab bagness, we don’t guarantee items and quantities in each bag, but we do guarantee an incredible deal on each one (10 Bucks!). It’s a fraction of the cost! So pick up one in the store today: grab bag#1 and make your parts drawer all that much happier.

Black Friday deal extended for Cyber Monday!!

The November issue of the MakerBot Newsletter which we launched last Friday morning offered a very special set of coupon codes, valid for “Black Friday” until the end of “Cyber Monday” (Nov 28th). A coupon, in fact, that we’ve never been able to offer before:  tremendous discounts on our flagship MakerBot Thing-O-Matic fully-assembled and user-assembled kits. This discount was so popular over the weekend, that we have decided to extend it to all of our community, even those who have not yet signed up for our newsletter.1

MakerBot Thing-O-Matic Newsletter Discount

For a $1999.00 fully-assembled kit: use coupon code TRYPTOPHAN.
For a $999.00 user-assembled kit: use coupon code TURKEYSTUFFER.

While the coupon codes were created solely for those who signed up for the newsletter, these codes will work for anyone who uses them in the coupon code part of checkout in our online shopping cart. This deal is only valid until midnight EST (“New York”) time, so those interested should jump on this now before these discounted kits sell out or the window on the coupon code closes. Feel free to share these coupon codes as widely while they still function! We want everyone possible to take advantage of this extremely unusual discount.

While you are at it, take a glance at our November newsletter!

Just in: order-by dates for Christmas delivery!

As the dust settles from our epic Black Friday sale-tacular, we’ve been able to take stock of the situation and re-evaluate some estimates for ship dates.  And there’s some very good news: most previously-ordered bots have already shipped, and this weekend’s order should be out in time for holiday delivery!

Furthermore, we’re now estimating that the Thing-O-Matic will ship with a 1-2 week lead time – which means there’s still time to order for Christmas delivery.  Here are our best estimates for the order cut-off dates for each type of shipping:

Ground Shipping: order by December 12th

3-day service: order by December 16th

2-day service: order by December 19th

Next Day Air: order by December 20th

Note that these estimates are for domestic orders only — as customs times vary greatly for international shipments, we can’t offer estimates for foreign delivery.
