#MBME | Slides For The Blind

Posted by on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in Uncategorized

Michael Kolitsky, a retired cell biologist, has been teaching students online for over a decade. When Michael got his MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer he decided to tackle his biggest teaching challenge yet: improving digital learning for the visually impaired. Michael used his MakerBot to print slides in 3D to texturize images, and help to make information and other data more accessible for those with visual impairment.  His slides consisted of topics ranging from famous artwork to biological drawings.

Eyeball some of Michael’s 3D printed slides below: that’s an eye muscle on the right, and an anterior thigh muscle on the left.
