ReplicatorG 0029 Released
ReplicatorG 0029 is now available. This release is a minor update, with only one new feature, one click Print-O-Matic defaults. MakerBot operators indicated that they wanted a better and easier way to put Print-O-Matic settings back to the Defaults we recommend. So we added a ‘Defaults’ panel to Print-O-Matic for resetting to the Factory defaults for all of our Stepper based extruders. Since there are a lot of new Bot Operators during the Holiday season, we choose to roll this now to make it easier to tinker with their new bots.
If you are new to 3D printing, this is a really helpful set of buttons. New users can now test and experiment with Print-O-Matic settings to their hearts’ content, safe in the knowledge the factory defaults for Print-O-Matic are a button click away!

Q/A doesn’t extend to finding spelling mistakes in the screenshot of the one new feature?

I cannot seem to get ReplicatorG 29 to generate gcode for rafts. This is using the defualt SF35-Thingomatic-ABP-Mk7 profile. No luck with or without Print-o-matic checked. Had to fall back to 28.

It would probably be a better idea to do a point release rather than a whole number version for these minor things. Oh and spelling does count as those mistakes make me think that no one is QAing the software.

Mark,
Usually ‘reset’ would not be worth a full release. However a lot of new ‘bot users are confused by Print-O-Matic. Adding defaults to Print-O-Matic is so very very useful for them. It’s worth the full version release to make printing easier for those new bot users. Also, good guess on the lack of QA! Our QA department is our very own software and R&D engineers. We are doing all of the development and all of the testing at night and weekends (between fits of caffeine withdrawal).

Thanks for the heads-up. I just released ReplicatorG 0029_r2, which fixes spelling problems, as well as the raft-button being inverted in the GUI. Also, if you know good Q/A folks in the NYC area, give me a shout (far@makerbot.com) ll forward it to our People Person. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, we’ve grown enough we could use a full time QA pro. We also updated our release testing plan as a result of this, so fewer small problems slip through.

Hi, I am having some troubles with 0029_r2, I can’t open the Edit profile window, it just seems to open invisible (because Replicator-G does not let me do anything else, I have to shut it down via killing the java process).
Also will be nice if Open/Save dialogs supported standard windows notation (with quotes) like: “c:\something\file.stl” (I love to shift+right click over a stl file and copy the path in Windows 7 to open it)
