Yao Xiao’s Amazing Line Art

One-line portrait of a Makerbot by Yao Xiao

One-line portrait of a MakerBot by Yao Xiao

Here’s an amazing one-line drawing of a MakerBot Thing-O-Matic by Yao Xiao.  Fluid and evocative, this single-line drawing does an amazing job of conveying the essence of a 3D printer.  But, I wonder…

Who’s ready to upload a Unicorn pen plotter TSP single-line drawing of Yao Xiao to Thingiverse?

Thanks to Molly Crabapple for the tip!1

Hmmmm. This is such a neat piece–might be worth tracing the entire thing as a single line in Inkscape and using the Unicorn G-code Extension for Inkscape
(http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5986) tool to make a much more satisfying plotter piece out of this image!

Thanks tons for the feature! :) before I started drawing the makerbot I got worried about the bot replacing a human artist. I was convinced that a human hand is made of uncertainty therefore makes surprises, but the makerbot was so much fun to watch. If there’s something interesting to be made out of this drawing, definitely let me know! :)
