Do you want your question answered on Robot Hospital?
Hello noble readers and watchers of videos! We’ve had some feedback that our recent Robot Hospital Episodes, though still full of entertaining information and helpful tips (obv.) didn’t answer enough questions from users.
Well, we agree. And we’re only missing one thing — your questions. So if you have a question about building or using your MakerBot, please submit it as a comment to this blog post.
Or, even better, submit your question as a short video — make your vid, post it on one of the popular video hosting sites, and submit the link in your comment. (It’d be cool if you used one of the ones where we can get the source, so we can include your question right in Robot Hospital.) If we use your video, we promise to send you a super-awesome, top-secret Mystery Prize! (LEDs.)
The first question will be answered during the Friday, April 22nd episode of Robot Hospital. We’re really excited to get your questions and even more excited to answer them!

Ooh! I have questions!
1) I’d like some advice on printing raftless. Specifically, how to get the first layer to stick better when you has small features. Should I have the first layer print slower or faster? Should the first layer fill be more or less than normal? I can get a good raftless print about 20% of the time, and a good raft print 99% of the time.
2) How about a “featured Thingiverse thing(s) of the week” section?
3) Is there any work being done to make RepG and SF more portable and easier to upgrade? The scattered configuration files that I have to remember to edit after every new version are really getting obnoxious.
4) How do you feel about the proliferation of ToM and Cupcake upgrade parts floating around on Thingiverse? Any plans on either incorporating the ideas or adding links to them as part of the build instructions?
5) Are you going to move to beefier XY motors anytime?
6) So, what is the future of 3mm filament?
7) Why do you have to be located in NYC where I can’t come visit you without a six hour cross country flight? (insert creepy stalker music)

Guys, I think the best thing you could do to start is have a video of how to print-really detailing the most common failures (as discussed in the forums at least once a week) such as:
Selecting the G code generator
The model isn’t centered or placed on the platform-before generating gcode
Selecting the right profile (stepper extruder VS DC, ABP VS HBP)
Enabling the raft
What to expect for wait times (heatup-cooldown)
The infamous start.gcode-what is does and how to edit
What things are called-the raft- the outline, first layer, carve, speed, fill
This doesn’t need to be in depth-just a quick overview hitting those topics as a discussion point. Way too many questions as of late and the Wiki doesn’t really cover these well but 2 seconds in a video can make a huge difference.

I’d like to see some comparative results from the new line of nozzles. How do printing speed and quality change with nozzle size, and between the old and new? Do you need to adjust the reversal parameters? Can you increase the flow rate with larger nozzles?

Hey Guys! MakerBot and Thingiverse grab me. I tried to download a file from Thingiverse in my Mac and it couldn’t download because it hasn’t a program able to works on STL files. How can I get it?

Hey folks,
These are really great questions and we’ll definitely be addressing some of them. I think that the basic “How to Print” tutorial is a really good idea and we’ll have to do that soon. Also, the nozzle comparison is a cool idea too.
Eddie — check out Wings3d or MeshLab which are both great, free 3d modeling tools — they’ve both been featured on the blog recently.
Thanks!
