Proteins can be so pretty2 that they shouldn’t just be relegated to flat images on paper or monitors or have their beauty squandered at the microscopic level.

Anyone manage to actually print these on a makerbot?

Interesting, but do protein structures print as ribbon representations on a makerbot? The angles appear to be too severe for makerbot printing with ribbons. My experience using VMD and Arthur Olson’s help is that a course surface must be generated in order to print anything protein related. Thoughts? Do do have printable objects on thingiverse? See my human rhinovirus upload on thingiverse.
