Thing-O-Matics will Start Shipping this week.
We got the last component for the Thing-O-Matic on Friday and we are going to start shipping Thing-O-Matics this week. If you’re eagerly waiting, we’ll be shipping them in the order in which they were ordered and when yours goes out, you’ll get an email with tracking information. I’ll update the blog later this week when they start going out the door!

makerbot should send out an email telling people where they are on the list and how many they expect will go out every day or week or something. sure would allow them to do more work and not answer silly shipping questions

I don’t know what order number mine is, though I suspect it is one of the first. Anyway, I just got my tracking number in the mail. So “this week” meant “tomorrow morning”. sweet.
Now I just have to find the time to build it. Several of you will have yours printing away long before me.

Just found out that I am about #230 in the queue and they should be sending out next week. That is probably for the best as I won’t have time to work on it this weekend and it would hurt to see it sitting there in a box being neglected.

So let me get this right, they had all/most of the parts for several weeks, hundreds of orders that were paid, a lot of space, and just started individually packing thing-o-matics when the steppers showed up?
I add, “can’t be sure how many we can ship out in a week”.
The right answer is-we have made arrangements with UPS to do a bulk pickup since we had everything packed just awaiting the steppers.
While I understand it’s a startup, the 3Ps rule still applies. Meanwhile Bre is promoting this thing all over the place.
I’m just saying it’s a business—–business first, or it’s not gonna last.

I also thought they could have given us the option of getting what they had and then sending the missing component(s) when they received them. That way at least I could have gotten most of this built while waiting on the last piece. I would have paid the cost of shipping the missing component to get my hands on the rest of the kit.
I am now concerned that they are rushing to pack and ship so many of these units that something will be missing when I do receive my unit. Packing/shipping errors happen especially when you are trying to send so many out at once.
I will cut them slack because they have seemingly created a great product (haven’t actually used one yet
and are fostering a new era for makers…
