New! Nema 17 Cork Gaskets and Relay Board Mount Kits

Last night we launched beautiful LED strips to light up your MakerBot and MakerBot Glow in the Dark ABS Plastic and today we’re introducing two more items for your bot. The first is the noise reducing Cork Gasket Pack. Install these gaskets on your MakerBot to reduce the vibration caused by the stepper motors.

The second thing we have for your MakerBotting pleasure is the electronics stacking Relay Board Mount Kit! This makes it so that you can mount your relay board in a really aesthetically pleasing way!

The cork gasket specifies it will reduce vibration for cupcakes – is it incompatible with the ToM, or does the ToM already have gaskets?
As for the relay board mounting kit, it doesn’t specify which bot it’s good for, so I would assume it’s for cupcake and ToM, however I thought I read ToM included a relay board (wouldn’t it have to, with the apb and extras?)
Sorry, maybe I’m dense but now that you have two different bots in the store you should probably be pretty clear about which accessories are supported on which bot, especially for newbs…

@charles The Thing-o-Matic uses a new set of electronics boards which have higher powered MOSFETs, and so can drive the large heaters in the extruder and ABP without a mechanical relay. The relay is only required for the Gen3 electronics on the Cupcake.
I have no idea about the use of cork on the Thing-o-Matic steppers, however.

I think I saw the cork somewhere under the acrylic bottom of the ToM in a recent video.
I am interested in knowing how the cork would affect MakerBot Music. Can a bot still play music well with reduced vibrations?

I’m pretty sure the playback volume and dynamics of Cupcake Music will be diminished with the cork gaskets/dampers. Notice I said Cupcake and not MakerBot; the ToM, if it has these dampers, will likely be a different/quieter musical beastie.
I for one enjoy my Cupcake sounds, so will not be using these.
