2 Color MakerBot Coin MK2 by wulfdesign – Thingiverse
This 2 color MakerBot Coin by wulfdesign may be the first thing uploaded to Thingiverse that is designed to be printed in two colors. I am, of course, excepting the various chess sets.
I like the multi-part snap-together assembly and the contrast between the colors Wulfdesign used. I think it really shows how multiple colors of plastics can be used effectively with minimal finishing and would make a great example of what you can do with a 3D printer. Plus, I like the idea that you could have two ‘bots churning out parts – one set in black, one set in white – ready to be assembled.

The dual color coin is thing #4219. It was uploaded 7 hours before Theron uploaded his Chihuahua Cameo, also a dual color, two print thing. Theron made the cameo several weeks ago as an anniversary present for his wife – who loved it. It took a bit of prodding to get him to upload it, being rather modest.
Theron took over hosting the LA Makerbot meetings at CrashSpace.org when I moved. He has been working on a Makerbot 101 workshop. Keep an eye out for it after the alpha testing – or sign up as a member and participate.

yea I’ve been designing and printing a couple of other things in two colors for some time now. figured I’d better get it out there and up on Thingiverse before someone else did. The puzzle tiles I uploaded several months ago where designed to be printed in any color you want and snap together. another design I’d been sitting on for several months before it was uploaded. so yes there is a chess set and more forth coming.(I ain’t even going to go into other stuff people have published before me)
get your ideas out there, it’s far better to share them with others than to hold on to them. besides if they are good ideas, someone else will be thinking about them as well and may share them before you. but don’t be disheartened by that. just remember that you have good ideas, and that you will have more. trust your intuition, and don’t be so modest, your ideas are great!
