ReplicatorG 0007 and Firmware v1.3 now available!

ReplicatorG 0007 and the v1.3 firmware are now available for Mac, Windows, and Linux!  As usual, you can download the latest version from our Google Code site:

To make the most of 0007, you’ll want to install the new firmware, as well.  Please note that we’re now hosting the firmware at the Makerbot Google Code site, instead of the RepRap site:

Details, and a changelog, are below.

There are a number of user-visible changes you’ll notice right off the bat:

  • Experimental machine definitions are marked as such, and won’t appear in the menus unless you mark the “Use experimental” checkbox in the preferences.  This should reduce the chances of people accidentally using the wrong machine definition.
  • I’ve redone the buttons at the top of the window.  Hopefully they should be a little more intuitive now.  Unavailable buttons (like the “pause” button if no build is currently running) are now disabled until they’re useful.  (As a side effect of this, I’ve dropped the “load/save/new” buttons; if anyone misses them, please let me know and I’ll add them again– I just didn’t have time to make new icons.)
  • SD card support!  If you’re using the v1.3 firmware, you’ll see two additional buttons– “upload to SD card” and “build from SD card”.  For details on how to use the SD card, see the wiki page about SD builds.
  • Skeinforge is no longer distributed with ReplicatorG; it’s now a separate download.  The recommended version of Skeinforge is still 0005, available here.

When you upload the firmware, remember to read our notes about updating firmware on the v1.1 and v1.2 motherboards.

Here’s the changelog for 0007:

  • Fix for issue 15 (credit to Charles Pax)
  • Adding constants for SD card write/playback commands
  • Basic testing support for SD card builds
  • Adding card capture api
  • Adding pausability to remote builds
  • Switching out gif for png with transparency
  • Refactor/prep for SD uploading
  • Button bar revision, interface prep for SD card prints
  • Fixed up startup window positioning
  • Removed preferences store/load race condition that was screwing up window sizing
  • moved some shutdown code out of handleQuit2 into proper shutdown hook
  • hide drivers marked ‘experimental’
  • added preference for viewing experimental machine profiles
  • busy cursor on long loads
  • reduced load time for files in large directory
  • proper error messages for SD operations
  • added feature check to buttons (only display for 1.3)
  • removing skeinforge from 0007, now distributed seperately

Quite a feature add! I think you have a better list than the new OSX kitty pack.

Using 007 I printed an object from SD card last night that took 65 minutes. There wasn’t a single burp in the process and not a single blob. Awesome!
